Week 24

Hello Parents!

Reminders:
  • Wednesday is our field trip to see Peter Pan at Lamar High School. Daniela Justiano and Suyu Liu are chaperoning. Please have your children wear jeans and their tie-dye class shirts. 
  • Tomorrow is library day. Please send your child's book to school with them. 
  • Wednesday February 25 will be an early dismissal day. School will end at 12:30 pm. 

Reading/Language Arts:
  • We will be learning about the 'sneaky e' and how it changes the sounds of vowels. Most specifically, we will be learning about the 'sneaky e' and the letter u. 
  • We will also be reviewing r-controlled vowels from last week.
  • Students will begin learning about writing how-to books. We will work on this skill for a few weeks.
Math:
  • Students will review tally marks and graphing. Students will use tally marks and data collected to make bar graphs.
  • Students will continue exploring measurement using both standard and non-standard forms. 
Social Studies:
  • Students will learn about President's Day and patriotism. We will discuss the role of the president, important presidents of the past, and the voting process.
Science:
  • We will continue learning about weather and seasons, specially focusing on the water cycle.
