Hello Parents!
We had a great week. Ms. Bowman came to visit for picture
day, and the students were thrilled. She and Weston are doing well!
Reminders:
·
March 16-20 is Spring Break! There will be no
after school activities on Friday March 13.
·
Please send your child’s library book on Tuesday
so that he or she may check out a new book before the break.
·
Please send your child’s book bag with them to
school every day.
·
We have been discussing personal hygiene as
students in our class are beginning to get sick. Please encourage your child to
wash their hands and make every effort to stay healthy.
English Language Arts and Reading:
·
We will begin learning about the consonant
cluster –ng.
·
Students will begin learning about “All About
Books.” This week, we will look at mentor texts and discuss the features of “All
About Books.” As a class, we will generate a topic and create a possible table
of contents.
·
We will also learn about expository text
features, including: table of contents, index, glossary, photographs, captions,
charts, graphs, etc.
Math:
·
We will continue learning about money as
students explore the quarter and money exchanges.
·
Students will practice surveying and looking at
results of yes/no surveys.
·
Students will begin learning about number
stories that involve the comparison of numbers.
·
Lastly, we will review skip counting by creating
a skip counting book that requires students to skip count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s
to 100.
Science/Social Studies/IB:
·
We will continue learning about Texas and Texas
state symbols.
·
We will complete our unit on climate and weather
by doing a final experiment where students observe the movement of water
through a carnation.
·
Students will complete a portfolio piece about
different seasons (winter and a season of their choice).
