Hello Parents!
It was so great to be back and hear all about the students’
Spring Breaks. It sounds like they all enjoyed their week off.
We had a great first week back. On Friday, we plated in the
Roberts garden. We plated leafy greens (arugula and watercress) and lettuce.
Over the next 40 days, we will periodically check on our class and record our
observations.
Reminders:
·
Our library day is Tuesday, however, STAAR
testing will begin next week, and students will be testing in the library. I
will try to schedule another day/time for the students to get new books. Please
have them bring their books on Tuesday, and hopefully, we will be able to go to
library later in the week.
·
Please send your child’s book bag with them to
school every day.

The Kindergarten Musical Revue will be on
Thursday, April 9 at 6:30 pm. There will be a note with more specific
information in the Tuesday folder this week.

We will begin learning about nouns and that they
are people, places, and things. Students will identify nouns and sort nouns and
words that are not nouns.

We will also begin discussing singular and
plural nouns and sorting nouns that are singular and plural.
·
Students have selected their topics for their
All About Books. They will begin writing their own by deciding on four
chapters, writing a table of contents, and writing and illustrating each page.
Ask them what they chose as their topics!
Math:
·
We will review money and counting money. The
students love exploring with coins and noticing all of the differences.
·
We will continue discussing time and using
counts as measures of time.
·
We will also review halves (as parts of a whole
or parts of a group). The students have loved this introduction to fractions.
Science/Social Studies/IB:
·
The students have really enjoyed our new IB Unit
“Sharing the Planet” so far.
·
Some key words we will be discussing are:
choice, impact, and planet.
·
This week, we will begin discussing how
littering and pollution can harm the planet.
·
The students will sort different activities and
whether or not they are helpful or hurtful to the earth.
·
We will begin discussing reducing, reusing, and
recycling. Students will create books about reducing, reusing, and recycling.
·
We will continue discussing plants and gardening
as we make observations about our seeds that were planted in the Roberts
garden.
I am looking forward to a great week! Please let me know if
you need anything!
